Lois Mitchell

Lois Mitchell is married to Pastor Jimmy Mitchell. Church and living for God have been a priority and passion in her life since she was a child. It was no surprise that she received her call to the ministry at the age of 17. Lois obtained her Local and General Ministerial Licenses in her early twenties from the Texas District. Her love for missions took her on the first European International Youth Corps trip in 1971. A deep desire to be involved in foreign missions led her to make additional trips to London, England, Rome, and Naples, Italy. Lois’s heroes consist of her pastor, Rev. Marvin Cole from Beaumont, Texas, and many missionaries (including Lewis and Sally Morley, Bill and Molly Thompson, Mervyn and Marilyn Miller, Bobbye Wendell, Harry Scism, and Carl and JoAnn Varnell) at the top of her list. She married the love of her life in 1982. Together, they graduated from Jackson College of Ministries, spent 20 months as AIMers in the Philippines in the late 1980s, and then moved to Pensacola, Florida, to serve as Assistant Pastor to former missionary to Italy, Thomas Peavy. In less than a year, Jimmy became pastor of what is now Apostolic Life United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Mitchell served on the Florida District Board, and Lois has served on the District Ladies Committee for 20 years and has been the Florida District Ladies President for nearly ten years. She was appointed Chair of the Women in Ministry Network in 2016. Lois recently retired after being a nurse since 1973. Since her nursing retirement, she has been asked to serve on two other short-term committees. Ministry is her passion!
